On Thursday, the federal government of Canada cautioned that Canada would likely to face more and more deaths caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The number of deaths caused by COVID-19 will be double in next week and can be reached to thousands over the period of this pandemic.
As of April 10, Canada has reported the number of 20,747 confirmed cases and 509 persons have died by this pandemic. However, 5,260 persons have recovered as well from the virus.
The country’s top public health officer predicted that around 4,400 persons can be died due to the COVID-19 across this country, if strict steps or measures are not taken by the government and followed by the citizens and 80 per cent of the population in Canada could have been infected by this virus.
The Prime Minister of Canada Mr. Justin Trudeau said that it would take months of efforts to recover the worst results came from COVID-19. He also stated “We are going to continue to lose people across this country in the coming weeks and We will not be coming back to our former normal situation; we can’t do that until we have developed a vaccine and that could take 12 to 18 months.”
Around the world, this COVID-19 has infected more than 1,603,000 people and more than 95,000 deaths caused by it. The United States of America is on the top in the list of all the countries in the world affected by COVID-19 pandemic. The Government of Canada also urging to citizens to stay at home and to avoid non-essential steps out of the house.
Due To Fear Of Theft, Masks Are In Lockup
To break the chain of spread or transmission of COVID-19 pandemic among the people, protective things like masks, gloves and sanitizer etc. should be carried by everyone. Due to the mounting numbers of COVID-19 cases, the Government of Canada is making sure about the supply of these products in large quantity to hospitals in Canada.
But many hospitals across Canada are being forced to keep these products under the lock and key because of fear of theft. Health officials in Nova Scotia, Manitoba, Ontario and Saskatchewan confirm that they have seen disappearance of essential materials from store rooms in last week and health care workers are facing problem to treat a surge of COVID-19 cases.
It is not clear whether the misappropriated supplies are being taken to be used in healthcare settings, being shared with family, relative and friends, or even being stolen to be resold with the motive of black marketing; whatever the case it is putting added strain on a health-care system already facing major challenges due to COVID-19.
Therefore, the health care workers in the hospitals are now required to take permission to access the Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, apron, mask etc. which are designed to protect the wearer’s body from injury or infection.
Many staffs are signing a petition calling on the federal government to deliver more critically needed Personal protective equipment (PPE) across Canada.
