As of April 8, USA has reported the number of 3,99,929 confirmed cases and 12,911 deaths caused by COVID-19 in the entire country. Meanwhile, 22,539 patients have recovered as well.

By seeing this mounting number of COVID-19 cases, the US President Mr. Donald Trump has asked for help from India but in a threatening way. There is currently no vaccine to prevent the COVID-19 disease. But on the other side, it has considered that Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) drug is suitable for treatment of COVID-19 by the US Food and Drug patients Administration (FDA).

India produces a drug named “Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ)”, one of the oldest and best known anti-malarial drugs for curing malaira disease, on a large scale. Therefore, India is largest producer of hydroxychloroquine in the world and exports it to many neighbour countries. But On April 4, the government of India banned the export of drugs and medicines including Hydroxychloroquine and paracetamol in order to maintain the stock of these drugs in India and its supply to neighbour countries which are heavily depend on India as the cases are increasing rapidly.

As of April 8, there are 5,360 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 164 deaths caused by COVID-19, whereas 468 patients have been recovered in India.

In one of his media conferences, Mr. Donald Trump stated “I spoke to him (PM Modi), Sunday morning & I said we appreciate it that you are allowing our supply (of Hydroxychloroquine) to come out, if he doesn’t allow it to come out, that would be okay, but of course, there may be retaliation, why wouldn’t there be?

After the conversation over the call with Mr. Donald Trump, the government of India has decided and removed the ban on the export of 24 pharmaceutical ingredients and medicines including Hydroxychloroquine and paracetamol.

After this decision, India has sent first shipment of 29 million doses of the drugs to the USA. For the same, Donald Trump appreciated our Prime Minister by called him a great person.

Mr. Donald Trump stated, “I bought millions of doses (of hydroxychloroquine). I spoke to Prime Minister Modi, a lot of it (hydroxychloroquine) comes out of India. I asked him if he would release it. This decision was an ideal example of how to trade equations should be developed in the world during this kind of pandemic. Further, the government of India assures that they are making sure about the manufacturing of these drugs with right quantities and its distribution among the country and to the neighbour countries as well.
