Indian-Canadian Shaping the Cannabis Industry in Canada

Foreseeing the opportunities, Barinder Rasode, an Indian Canadian co-founded a new accelerator for the recently legalized Cannabis industry. She is CEO of the Vancouver based Grow Tech Labs that facilitate innovation in Cannabis industry and generate opportunities. “Because this is a new industry and we are dealing with the challenges of supply, high quality cannabis, its processing and packaging, the industry requires innovation to deal with the pain points”, Rasode said.

She also informed that Grow Tech Labs had already funded a company that will be developing the technology to improve upon the growing of quality cannabis, though the Cannabis Innovation Programme will formally be taking off in January next year.

Cannabis industry is not new to Rasode and she had earlier founded the National Institute for Cannabis Health and Education that provides connect between business professionals from Cannabis industry and Health Associations.

She also said that her goal is to facilitate diversity within this emerging industry while creating openings for women, indigenous entrepreneurs and minorities.

49 years old Rasode was born at Ludhiana in India and grew up at Kamloops BC.
