On Monday (Oct 12), the Supreme Court directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to announce the results of the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2020 on October 16, 2020. The Supreme Court also said that students will have the opportunity to sit in the test on October 14, 2020. The chance is for those students who were unable to appear in NEET UG 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic or were stuck in the containment areas.
The Supreme Court’s order is based on the request made by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to allow students who were unable to take the NEET UG 2020 exam because they are positive for COVID-19 or in a containment area.
Taking into account the COVID-19 pandemic, the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) was successfully held on September 13, under strict precautions. All instructions and recommendations were carefully followed in a safe and healthy atmosphere according to the issued advisories by the government.
Union Education Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank announced the date of NEET UG 2020 results on his Twitter account. He also said that the exact time of the NEET 2020 results will be announced later.
He tweeted, “NTA will be declaring the results of NEET UG 2020 on 16th October 2020. Exact timing of the results will be intimated later. I wish all the best to the candidates.”
Up to 85 per cent of the 15.97 lakh candidates appeared for the exam, due to the impact of COVID-19 pandemic. Candidates who miss the exam after testing positive for coroavirus will have another opportunity to appear for the exam on October 14, 2020.
NEET is the only entrance exam for admissions in medical and dental college in India. This year, the cut off for NEET UG 2020 is expected to be higher because the number of test candidates was more as compared to last year.
