Lockdown 5.0 to Unlock 1.0 – India Readies for Phased Re-Opening

Ministry of Home Affairs in its order today extended the lockdown in Containment Zones till June 30, and for the areas outside the Containment Zones Lockdown 5.0 brings Unlock 1.0 for phased re-opening of the prohibited activities.

Under Phase I of re-opening following activities will be allowed with effect from June 8th, 2020:

1) Religious places and other places of worship for public.

2) Hotels, restaurants and other hospitality services.

3) Shopping Malls

For ensuring social distancing and to contain the spread of COVID-19, the above activities will be permitted strictly as per the applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Under Phase II, schools, colleges, educational/training/coaching institution etc. will be opened after consultations with State Governments / Local Administrations and other stake holders including parents/student bodies. Based on the feedback, these institutions will be re-opened in the month of July 2020 subject to applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Under Phase III, and based on regular assessment of the prevailing conditions International Air Travel, Metro Rail, Cinema halls, gymnasiums, swimming pools etc. may be re-opened in August.

Night curfew will continue throughout the country till further orders and movement of individuals will remain strictly prohibited between 9.00 pm to 5.00 pm except for essential activities.
