Prime Minister Modi Announces Special Economic Package Worth Rs 20 Lakh Crore

In his address to the nation today Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a special economic stimulus package worth Rs. 20 Lakh Crore to fight the Covid crisis. “This special stimulus package which is about 10% of India’s GDP is towards achieving the larger goal of India to be Self Reliant (आत्मनिर्भर ),” he said.

He announced that the stimulus package will address the immediate and future needs of one and all, be it farmers, labourers, entrepreneurs, businessmen, Salaried tax payers, MSMEs etc. in an effort to address the whole financial eco system in the country. “The country needs to move ahead towards prosperity with a new determination”, he added.

He emphasized that besides fighting and overcoming the pandemic, the country also needs to transform this crisis into a constructive opportunity to come out as a true world leader in this 21^st century with her conduct and self reliance.

Further details of this economic package are expected to be presented by Finance Minister Mrs Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday.
